Today while we were eating lunchI said "Sadie, you're cute."
She said "No I'm not."
I said, "Yes you are, you're big time cute."
She said "Well you're lil time cute."

Also, everytime we've been out today she tells people "I'm fwee! I'm fwee!" She talks to people all the time, usually she tells them her name first, then asks them theirs, but today it's very important that she share her new proud age.

Speaking of her habit of talking to complete strangers, we're going to the police station soon for a tour. If we don't make it today or tomorrow, we'll definitely make it on Friday. We review safety rules every day, sometimes more than once if she brings it up again, usually in the car while we're driving. When we get to the point about someone coming up to her to tell her her parents have been hurt and that she needs to go with them, I get stumped. I want to tell her "except if it's a police man or fire man", but anyone call claim to be one or the other and she wouldn't know the difference. So we're going to a police station to see what a real police man looks like, then soon after we'll go to a firestation to meet firemen (mommy's really looking forward to this one, *rawr*). I can't imagine ever needed to be in that situation, since she's never out of my sight when we're out, but I'm sticking by the "better safe than sorry" rule.

She'll have fun, anyway. :)

I just realized I need to make some new icons for this journal since I SWEAR I'M GOIN GTO BE UPDATIN GIT MORE OFTEN NOW. *ahem* Better get on that.

Sadie had her first dentist appointment yesterday. Tom came home to watch Dex while I took her, but he was so fussy and hungry and we would have been late if I would have finished feeding him first, so Tom ended up taking her.

She has 18 of her 20 teeth, and he said that she should be getting the last two top molars in anytime. If she gets a fever with no other symptoms within the next few months, that's what we should look for.

He also said that her teeth and gums looked beautiful and healthy, and that we do a great job brushing her teeth (of course all of that credit goes to Tommy, that's his job).

The last thing he said was that her lower jaw is a little on the narrow side, and that she has some crowding. You can see that the baby teeth are a little bit crooked. She may end up having to have braces when she's older.

I guess that's it. I's so happy it was a good experience for her and not a frightening one like it always was (and still is) for me. She get's to go back in 6 months, and at that check-up they'll polish her teeth too! (He said he'd introduce one cleaning step at a time) Hee!

Other than that, she's amazingly sweet and frighteningly smart. She loves to share, and her favorite new thing is to find out the name of every new person we see.
Sadie: Momma, what's her name?
Me: I don't know, why don't you ask her?
Sadie: Hi! What's your name?

I feel like we're doing her such a disservice not having her in school right now. She would benefit so much right now from a four hour, three day a week program, especially if we could put her into a Montessori. At this point it's just a money issue, but hopefully we can manage it soon.

OK so the ones of the kids are cute, I look like death. But hey, that's how I look when I'm asleep, now you know.

Tommy took this one before he left for work the other day. I guess when he kissed me goodbye I woke up a little and said goodbye and a couple of other things, which woke up Sadie enough to look for her "Baby Brother" and reach out to touch him. That's where her hand stayed. He thought it was cute, so do I. :)

By the way (and I don't know why it's important for me to explain this, but it is, so I'm gonna), the kids don't sleep with us. In the morning when Tom is up and about, it usually wakes one or both of the kids up. Sadie comes and climbs in bed with me, I nurse the baby and sometimes lay him down next to me after burping him. This particular morning we happened to all fall back to sleep--YAY!

Just some of the angels...

I have a ton more of the two of them, but I still have to resize them, so I'll share a few another post. I also have a bunch of Brian with one or the other or both of them, bu I'll share them on the boy's journal.

I haven't been updating at all....poor little Sadie with no record of her childhood. Of course I don't even have a baby book for her. :( Tommy in his own smart assed way said yesterday "you know, if Sadie had a baby book you could put this in there" and then proceeded to tell me that she begged him not to go to work. "Papa, I don't want you go a work today. I want you to stay home and pway pizzles wif me."

OK so no, she doesn't have a baby book, but I'll be damned if I'm going to miss any more of those gems. There have been SO many recently, she's at the ripe age (2and a half) for saying things that blow your mind, but of course I have the memory of a ......well, think of something that has a terrible memory......and so I don't remember them. She is incredibly special though, as I'm sure most parents would say their children are, and I'm enjoying her more every day.

I wanted to take her to the park today, but I came down with a horrible cold and am having a hard time just staying vertical. I'll let her run around the backyard in a little bit to wear her out, so that maybe when we get back from Dexie's drs appt she'll want to crash and I can nap.

Tomorrow she has swim lessons. She's been to two, and she loves them. I think she's doing really well, I really hope she's able to swim by the end of the classes. I did a really naughty thing......I put her in the first "real" swim class for kids who are three to five. She's not going to be three until August. But I want her to know how to swim before the summer, not at the end! Plus, she's exceptionally big and developed for her age, and REALLy really great in the water, so I don't feel like I'm endangering her in any way. The class for up to three is just water familiarity, and she's already very familiar and comfortable with the water. She just needs to know how to SWIM! At the beginning of her first lesson she jumped right into the pool next to the instructor. I thought (and so did the instructor) that she was going to jump TO her and grab her hand, but she didn't. Instead she jumped about two feet from her, and the instructor couldn't see her becasue of all the bubbles she created. I tried really hard not to panic, and sure enough, she just bobbed right up and grabbed onto Veronica (the instructor). She looked really surprised, but was ready to go for the rest of the lesson!

Anyway, so today we're taking it easy, and then tomorrow is another swim lesson. I'll update afterward if anything fun happened.

Oh and I started a new journal for Brian and Dexter, if you want the username email me and I'll give it to you. :)

Tonight was much less fun getting Sadie monster to bed than last night.
Last night was easy, she fell asleep in my arms and didn't wake up when I put her in the bed.
Tonight, though, she would just not relax and go to sleep, and at 5 minutes to ten I was ready to scream. I layed down with her to watch "Emmo tape!", rocked her, talked to her, sang to her. Finally, I realized it was ridiculous to think I could get her to fall asleep every night before putting her in the bed, and I had to try just putting her in her bed awake.
Shit. She climbed right out. Crying. Didn't wake Bubba up, cause he wakes for nothing, but I'm sure she woke Tommy up in the next room. Consoled, consoled....had a discussion? over whether she wanted the night light on or off, then I left. I've heard her cry out in there once or twice, but so far she hasn't gotten up, or she'd be here with me right now.
Please let this work.

It's not that difficult logging out and back in as another journal, the client makes it really easy. So why do I have such a problem with updating this and my pregnancy journal?? Flaky, I tell ya.

Anyway, Sadie has just been growing by leaps and bounds, it's amazing how fast they learn at this age. It's almost like you teach her something once, and she just knows it from then on. She says her ABCs to G, then L-P, then XYZ. She counts to fifteen. She knows all of her colors, including brown, which was the hardest one for her to get. I just love how smart she is, and how much she thrives on learning.

Her favorite thing in the whole wide world is to be read to. It doesn't matter which of her books you read, she's happy, but her favorite ones are the couple that we have with flaps, that have shapes and colors and objects on and behind them. Everytime we look at it she's remembered more from the last time. She also really really loves Go Dog Go (of course!), and has memorized several pages.

My most favorite truly Sadie thing of the moment is her manners. She LOVES to say thank you. So much so that she says it every single time you hand her something or say yes when she asks you something or whatever. She gets on a roll. The best part about it though, is the way she says it. Especially to me. She does't just say thank you. She says "Oh, Thank you, Momma!", like she is just so incredibly grateful to you for giving her what she wants. It's really, really special.

She still wants "Nummies" once in a while, and believe it or not, I still give it to her. Maybe twice a week. The thing is, I always wanted to nurse her until she was two or so, but I started weaning her at 13 months or so because shw still wasn't sleeping through the night, because she would wake up wanting to nurse. Now that she doesn't do that anymore, I feel like it's ok to give it to her once in a while. It's really special time when I nurse her, because the only reason for it is comfort. And now that she's so grown and cognesent, we talk, she nods or shakes her head in answer to my questions, she strokes my hair or my arm, it's just really nice.

She's still a big girl, but it's amazing how much she's growing up and thinning out. She hasn't gained any weight since she was one, believe it or not. When she was 12 months and weighed 34 lbs., it was funny, cause that was just so heavy. She had rolls on her rolls, and was just FAT. Now that she's almost two and still weighs 34 lbs, you can imagine how much her body shape has changed. She still has some great rolls on her thighs, but she's just a big girl, she's not super fat. She wears a 3T, and size 8 shoes. And she's gorgeous.

I know that's terrible, I should just be happy that she's smart and sweet and confident and independent and polite....but it still makes me feel good when people tell me how beautiful she is. Why is that? I hate that that makes me feel good at all, that's just stupid. Anyway, she really is, and people can't seem to keep from stopping us to tell me (or her) what big beautiful eyes she has, or how pretty she is. It's mostly both of those. What's funny is, she looks exactly like her dad, and everytime I say that Tom says "Poor thing.". Very silly. She obviously has her own look to her, but she's got every single one of his best features. Big eyes, super duper long eyelashes that turn up, not down like mine, his beautiful sandy blonde hair, round cheeks, nice lips. She does seem to have my nose, and my coloring. I mean she's white, but she gets a really nice color in the sun that turns her skin to olive.

So, I think I'm probably going to hell with this entry, what with all the pride involved. But I just realy wanted to remember this special time in her life. Especially, with the new baby coming, I know I'll want to compare them. Not in a bad way, like they need to compete, but just to gauge how the new baby is learning at this age. And to see how similar or different they are.

I would post some pics here, but I don't have any real recent ones. Somehow I lost both of our memory cards for the camera, and I haven't gone to pick up another one. I need to do that today. I'm missing out on some pretty cute stuff. :)

Woohoo, $4.97 each!
UNluckily for me, they had three of the four Tubbie plushes: Dipsy, Laalaa and Po. But of COURSE she has to have Tinky Winky too, so I've been on the phone all afternoon calling all the Toy-R-Us's in the surrounding area trying to find him.
I finally did, but now that means I have to drive out to San Bernardino to get it.
We've been working alot with Sadie--nummbers, letters, colors, things like that.
She's really getting good at it!
She can identify the following letters: E, I, O, B, and S. When we say the alphabet, she repeats after me, except for when we get to W, which she says right after I say V.
As for numbers, she can count to four on her own, says six when I say five , then after I say seven, she says eight, nine, ten, eleven.
She's been able to identify the color puple and blue for a few days now, but this morning she identified green, orange, and almost got yellow.
It's really amazing how quickly babies learn when they have a parent home with them all the time. Brian was smart, but he never learned this stuff this early. I feel like I did a disservice I did to him, having to work.
I think Sadie's gonna be a braniac like her dad. :)
